The two troupes—80 dancers on both east and west coast legs of the tour—spent 60 days on the road, presenting 100 performances in cities across the U.S. and Canada. The 70-city tour met with critical success, from NY Times Chief Dance Critic Alastair Macaulay to San Francisco’s Stark Insider magazine to Cleveland’s Plain Dealer.
About 6,000 student dancers had the time of their lives working with teachers Svetlana, Anna, Nataliya, and Tatiana and performing with some of the world’s best dancers! Audiences enjoyed the Christmas extravaganza, too, some seeing a ballet for the first time.
What are some of your thoughts about this year’s tour? If you were able to be at the airport and talk with the dancers and Ballet Masters, what would you say to them? Submit your comments below or on our Facebook page and we’ll pass them along! You can address a particular dancer who you may have had contact with, or just offer a general comment. We’d love to hear from you!
Spectacular scenic design, over 200 ornate and handmade costumes, and the exquisite artistry of top Russian artists make Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker an American holiday tradition not to be missed.
