Contemporary Russian Painter Tatyana Kalyn Adds Visual Art to Celebrated Ballets

Moscow Ballet, with the longest and largest annual tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker, is adding visual art to its beloved Nutcracker ballet this year all thanks to contemporary, Russian artist, Tatyana Kalyn. Her limited edition paintings, created to honor the “Father of Russian Ballet” Marius Petipa, are available to those with the Platinum Print and Ticket Experience.

Only seven Platinum Packages are available for each performance in every city where the Great Russian Nutcracker and Swan Lake are performed. Those select ballet ticket holders will receive an original print created by Kalyn or other commissioned artist to commemorate the memory of Petipa and his classic story ballets, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.

A longtime Christmas tradition, the Nutcracker ballet is scheduled to tour throughout the U.S. and Canada during the holidays. Through the work of Kalyn and other Russian artists, Platinum Print and Ticket Experience holders will have a rare opportunity to gain insight into the grand tradition of Russian art.

Kalyn works in oil and is known for her vibrant use of color and texture. Her warm and expressive paintings reverberate with emotion, much as the Great Russian Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Kalyn’s paintings often feature women, natural settings and still lifes. In 2008 she was a member of the group exposition of “Diagilev’s 100-Year Anniversary” in Paris, France. To date in 2010 she has participated in ”Itinerants 21st Century” in Berlin, Germany and Warsaw, Poland and was a member of the group exposition “Art Mahege” in Moscow.

The paintings by Kalyn and commissioned artists will undergo the process of giclée printing with archival inks and stock. No more than 100 prints of each painting will be created. Those with Platinum Print and Ticket Experience packages will also enjoy the best seats in the house for the Great Russian Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Tchaikovsky’s time-honored Nutcracker score and Petipa’s ballet live on through Kalyn’s delicate artistry.

The Platinum Print Package is $350 per ticket and includes many benefits. For the best seats, personal service and to choose your print, call and ask for Moscow Ballet Platinum Curator 800.320.1733.
