Limited Edition Print of the Dove of Peace by Alexandra Nedzvetskaya to Honor Marius Petipa, “Father of Russian Ballet”

Moscow Ballet has commissioned rising star, painter Alexandra Nedzvetskaya, to enhance this year’s productions of our holiday ballet, the Great Russian Nutcracker, and the classic story ballet, Swan Lake.

Nedzvetskaya’s limited edition paintings (100 max) will celebrate and honor the “Father of Russian Ballet,” Marius Petipa.

Doves of Peace

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker, touring North America for 17 years with two consecutively performing companies of 40 dancers each, is acclaimed by audiences and the press. The New York Times says, “Whimsical…Charming…Vibrant…Classical style.”

Nedzvetskaya was commissioned to create paintings inspired by Petipa’s renowned story ballets: Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake for Platinum Package ticket holders. The paintings allow audiences to delve deeper into the storied Russian artistic tradition and to keep their memories alive at home.
Tchaikovsky’s imminently familiar Nutcracker score and Petipa’s memorable ballet, will tour 70 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Patrons with one of only seven (7) Platinum Packages available at each performance will receive their choice of a print by Nedzvetskaya or one of the other commissioned artists.
The Russian St. Petersburg Academy of the Arts Foundation (Repin) has placed the artist’s paintings in exhibitions worldwide. Nedzvetskaya’s work has been on view in countries including China, France and Germany. Her paintings, a special Christmas gift for Moscow Ballet ticket holders with the Platinum Package, are as rich in color and texture as they are in emotional depth. In essence, the perfect complement to the Nutcracker, itself a Christmas tradition.

After graduation from the prestigious I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Nedzvetskaya almost immediately created a buzz. Her tones of femininity, fluidity and a soft dreamlike sensibility are often mixed with impeccable realist capabilities. It is her hope that her specially commissioned work will forever inspire those who truly love the Nutcracker, and who so generously support the legacy of the Moscow Ballet.
